Book This Class

The most ambitious bronze casting class we offer. Over three days you will plan, mould, cast and finish a full Bronze Age sword — one of the most challenging and rewarding castings in the ancient metalworker's repertoire. Bronze sword casting requires mastery of mould design, gating systems, alloy temperature and finishing — all of which are covered in full over this three-day course.

This is a rare opportunity — very few places in the UK offer bronze sword casting as a taught experience. The swords produced in this class are genuine, functional cast bronze blades following archaeological Bronze Age typology. By day three you will have something truly extraordinary — a sword cast in bronze by your own hands, finished and fitted with a handle.

Frequently Asked Questions

What sword type will I cast?
A Bronze Age leaf-shaped sword following a Late Bronze Age European type — typically around 55–65cm blade length.
Is bronze sword casting very different from axe or dagger casting?
Yes — the length and thinness of a sword blade make it far more technically demanding. Days 1 and 2 are substantially focused on the mould engineering needed to make a successful pour.
Is a deposit available?
Yes — contact us to arrange a deposit to secure your place.
Can I combine this with a blacksmithing class?
Yes — speak to us about combining bronze casting with one of our forge-based classes for a comprehensive ancient metalworking week.
