Damascus steel is one of the most visually spectacular and technically demanding forms of bladesmithing. Over two intensive days you will forge, fold and weld layers of contrasting steels to create a blade with a unique flowing pattern — revealed through acid etching at the end of day two. Every Damascus blade is completely unique. No two are ever alike.

This is the class that serious blade enthusiasts dream about. You will learn every stage of the pattern-welding process from scratch, understanding why Damascus steel makes such an exceptional blade — not just beautiful, but tough and edge-retaining in a way that single-steel blades cannot match.

Typically 120–200 layers depending on your folding sequence.
Is Damascus just decorative?
Not at all. Pattern-welded steel makes an exceptional functional blade — the contrasting steels combine toughness with edge retention.
Do I need prior forge experience?
It helps but is not essential. William tailors the pace to each student.
Can I choose the handle material?
Yes — a range of handle materials are available. William will advise on the best option for your blade style.
